Improving healthcare in Europe
The scientist Gertrude Belle Elion was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for her research & development of drugs for leukemia and malaria.
Today, after the pandemic experienced in 2020, we are in the race for the COVID vaccine. At the same time, we are making progress in other areas related to improving Health, such as the application of Artificial Intelligence, which offers algorithmic solutions to support medical practice.
The new framework programme, Horizon Europe, which seeks to improve and protect citizens’ health by developing innovative solutions to prevent, diagnose, control, treat and cure diseases, has defined a unique health cluster, which will address challenges such as COVID19 , the expansion of clinical trials, innovation in protective measures, virology, vaccines, treatments and diagnostics. These improvements will lead to more cost-effective, equitable and sustainable public health systems. Health also features in the EU’s objectives for 2030, specifically in the fight against cancer, with the milestone of saving 3 million lives by 2030.
Extracellular vesicles for molecular delivery system.
The Ves4us project is an European initiative funded by the Horizon2020 Program of the European Commission under Future Emerging Technologies (FET) call. Its main objective aims at generating a broad range of radically new high-value products in the fields of nutrition, cosmetics and health sciences based on natural source-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs), which could be used as new generation vehicles for specific molecular delivery
