Climate challenge: achieving a clean, zero-emission environment
The historic Montreal Agreement is reached, which prohibits chlorofluorocarbon gases (CFCs) in aerosols
Today the European Green Deal maps out the strategy to reduce CO2 emissions to zero by 2050. We are moving towards a cleaner, healthier, greener and more sustainable Europe.
In order to achieve the goal of zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the EU has already defined and started to follow the path it has set out. 2030 is the first target set, with a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and in 2040, as a second milestone, the reduction must be 60%. According to the United Nations, which identified “climate action” as one of the key objectives in ODS 13, achieving the goals set for 2030 could generate at least US$26 billion and more than 18 million jobs.
