Encouraging positive changes in the way people move around
General Motors launched its revolutionary EV1 model, a modern and daring car, that was ahead of its time and that perished because of a murky web of business and political interests.
Today, European transport is one of the most energy intensive sectors. Its decarbonisation is one of the greatest challenges in Europes energy transition, with the solution being the electrification of vehicles and the deployment of green hydrogen.
The change that the European Commission will implement in the regulation of this sector will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from road transport by 23% in 2030 (compared to 2005) and will create 60,000 jobs by 2030 and up to 80,000 if the batteries are produced in the EU. This change requires an electrification of the economy and batteries have a key role to play in this field. urope has created the European Battery Alliance to encourage the creation of pan-European battery projects.
The Battery European Technology and Innovation Platform.
A new and comprehensive meeting place for stakeholders active in the battery sector, will kick off its activities on June 25, 2019 in Brussels.
